As a translator and writer on music, I help performers, presenters, and scholars connect with their audiences, colleagues, and communities. I work on program notes, artist biographies, résumés, cover letters, grant applications, brochures, websites, social media, academic writing, and more. My clients range from major organisations such as the Arte Musica Foundation, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and the Schulich School of Music to ensembles including Clavecin en Concert, Infusion Baroque, and Mirror Visions, as well as individuals such as conductor Xavier Brossard-Ménard, soprano Suzie Leblanc, and Professor Anna Zayaruznaya (Yale Department of Music).
Since 2015, I have translated more than 75,000 words from French to English. My translation projects have included, for example,
- the 2018 – 2019 OSM season brochure;
- the libretto of Lully’s Cadmus et Hermione for Amherst Early Music;
- composer’s notes for McGill Contemporary Ensemble premieres;
- seventeen different Bourgie Hall concert programs.
I am also one of three co-translators and editors for the English edition of André Schaeffner’s Origine des instruments de musique, forthcoming with Routledge in 2020.
Outside of translation, I have written program notes for 59 different concerts in the past two years, and my article “Miming Crayfish: Apollinaire’s Le Bestiaire in translation” appeared in the Yale Journal of Literary Translation in 2018. I am also an active arts administrator. As managing director of the Uncommon Music Festival, my responsibilities include grant writing, copywriting, publicity, and social media; the Festival received Chamber Music America’s competitive Residency Partnership Grant in 2017, and our attendance, donor base, and Facebook following have grown steadily since our first season in 2016.
I was born and raised in Montreal and educated in both French and English. I received my B.A. in music summa cum laude from Yale University, and I am currently pursuing an M.Mus. in Opera and Voice at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, where I also work as an assistant in the Communications & Production Office.
